This page is different from most of my other accessories pages in that it contains many one of a kind collectible items. The photos and programs featured will usually be sold out to the first customer who places an order! The layout is somewhat different too. Items will be listed in a table with a brief synopsis. Clicking on the item link will take you to a separate page with more complete item descriptions and illustrations. Eddie Shipstad and Oscar Johnson grew up together in St. Paul, MN and were as inseparable as Amos and Andy. Eddie won a national title as a junior speed skating champion and Oscar was considered to be the champion of all spinners in the figure skating world. Eddie and Oscar developed famous comedy skating routines including "Spark Plug, the Skating Horse" and for two years they appeared between periods at NY Ranger NHL hockey games in Madison Square Gardens. In 1937 they took leaves up absence from skating coaching jobs to organize and go on tour with the first edition of the Ice Follies. The Ice Follies grew into an international sensation known for their extravagant production numbers and costumes. The Ice Follies toured throughout the United States and Canada with new annual programs until 1979 when they merged with Holiday On Ice. We were fortunate in being able to acquire a good portion of Eddie Shipstad's collection of Ice Follies memorabilia at auction and are pleased to be able to offer the items here. Each item purchased will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity that the item came from the estate of Eddie Shipstad.

	ESH-002	Ice Follies of 1937 - Atlantic City Auditorium - The first edition of the Ice Follies features Eddie Shipstad, Oscar Johnson, Roy Shipstad (billed as the Human Top), Bess Ehrhardt, Harris Legg, McGowan & Mack, Lois Dworshak and Papez & Zwack. Production numbers include In Winter's Wonderland, Beautiful Ladies In Blue, The Old Grey Mare, Swing Dance On Ice, Struttin' On The Ice Walk, Squads Right and Beginner's Luck. This program also has great articles such as Head Man of the Horse (Oscar Johnson), New Trends In Figure Skating, The Skates They Use, an extensive section on the Atlantic City Auditorium with loads of photos, On British Ice, The Interpretative Ice Dance and The Ice Show Grows Up. 	ESH-004	1952 Ice Follies Programme & Sports Magazine - Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto - This scarce 6-3/4" x 10" 84 page program is loaded with advertising from Toronto merchants and Canadian manufacturers. The program has over 30 pages of hockey news, much of it devoted to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Articles include Hockey TV - Just Around The Corner, New Deal For The Bruins, Hugh (Bolton) Bids For Glory and 25 Years In The Hockey Whirl. Articles related to the Ice Follies include Sixteen Years With Ice Follies by Phyllis Legg and Successor To Roy Shipstad (Richard Dwyer). Program numbers include Crinoline Gardens, Romance and the Royal Hawaiian, A Young Debonair, A Most Unusual Wedding, Nipponese Sekku and Yankee Doodle Day. It was one of those numbers where all of the lights in the arena would go out and the skaters' costumes would light up. The soloist is (Miss) Lee Carroll.
