Professional Skaters Association Ice Dance Book
Professional Skaters Association Ice Dance Book
This 7th Edition is the most current dance booklet.
This booklet provides a pattern diagram and overview for each dance from the Preliminary through Gold and International levels. Diagrams of each dance along with guidelines for test expectations, focus points, checks, and common errors are included. Highly regarded as a resource for judges, coaches, and ice dancers alike, the 7th edition, released in 2021, included a thorough review and update. New features of the updated 7th edition include:
- Updated descriptions of dance rhythms
- Dance holds by step number
- Pattern requirements for test and competition
- Addition of Tea-Time Foxtrot
The new booklet is also printed in portrait format with two-page spreads for each dance. This puts the pattern on the left-hand page and text on the right-hand page, allowing for easier-to-read font size and plenty of space for making notes. You can jot down exercise ideas, teaching tips, and any other notes you might want to record making this an ideal rink-side resource.
The previous editions of this book were researched, prepared, and edited by Paula Maniago, a U.S. Figure Skating judge, and Bob Mock, a PSA master-rated dance coach, with significant input from dance coach and partner Andrew Beck. The most current material for the Tea-Time Foxtrot was added by Martha Rasmussen, U.S. Figure Skating judge, and coach and partner Jeff Petri. This seventh edition was reviewed by PSA master-rated dance coach Kelley Morris Adair, PSA master-rated dance coach Alina Ponomarova, and PSA staff. Nathan Truesdell, chair of the PSA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, provided valuable revisions to foster inclusivity and offer accurate cultural and historical context.
